Lord Waring's Quest
Initially published in 2011 with the title “A Deceitful Widow”, and the first of the Diana Hussey books, the story of Jessica and Lord Waring holds a special place in my heart. I’ve long had an abiding interest in the Napoleonic War, particularly of those years in Spain and Portugal when the English army battled the French military under the command of Lord Wellington. But a war in any country affects not only the armed forces. Civilians are naturally caught up in what is frequently devastating damage to their homes and families.
Jessica is one of those innocent civilians. She experiences the horrors of war and suffers great loss. Now, the war at an end, she must rebuild her life. A strong woman, she never hesitates in her resolve to provide a home for her beloved, orphaned nephew. Yet she too needs love and a forever home and family. Is she too badly scarred to open her heart? What will it take to heal her hidden wounds? These are the questions that led to the writing of “Lord Waring’s Quest”.
How does one go about healing a battered spirit? Why, you need someone like Lucas March—a man with enough love and patience, tenderness and strength—and an unfailing determination to free Jessica from the bonds of the past.
As well as a new title, “Lord Waring’s Quest” has a beautiful new cover and now shows my sister, Diana Fasoldt and myself as authors. Our former pen name reflects our collaboration in creating the two Diana Hussey books. We have now gone separate ways in our writing careers.
